Tournament Information

All teams are guaranteed 4 games.

Red: $1000

Full Ice — High & Low Divisions

*Non-USA Hockey sanctioned*

White: $750

Half Ice — 2 Divisions

Blue: $575

Cross Ice

Multi-Team Discount: $50 off per team

Registration Deadline: TBD

Division Placement: Final division placement will be determined in December based on CSHL and/or comparable league regular-season game results to help create the most competitive and balanced matchups possible.

Team Eligibility: No Elite teams or Elite-affiliated teams will be accepted.

Red & White Divisions

• 1st Place — Individual medals & team trophy

• All players receive individual medals
• 1st Place — Team trophy
• 2nd Place — Team trophy

TOURNAMENT GAME FORMATS

All teams are guaranteed 4 games. This is a curfew rink; running time may be used when necessary to keep games on schedule.

RED LEVEL — FULL ICE

● 2-minute warmup

● Three 12-minute periods

● Faceoff at the start of each period

● 5-on-5 plus a dressed goaltender

● Full-size nets

● Full-ice format

WHITE LEVEL — HALF ICE

● 2-minute warmup

● Three 14-minute periods

● Faceoff at the start of each period

● 4-on-4 plus a dressed goaltender

● Intermediate/ADM nets

● Half-ice format with rink divider boards

● Buzzer for line changes every 2 minutes

BLUE LEVEL — CROSS ICE

● Three 14-minute periods

● Faceoff at the start of each period

● 3-on-3 format: four players per team on the ice, with one player serving as goaltender, consistent with the basic CSHL Blue game format

● Intermediate/ADM nets

● ⅓ cross-ice format with pads/dividers

● Buzzer for line changes every 2 minutes

BASIC GAME RULES

Penalties

The offending player will leave the ice until the end of the shift or until the opposing team scores, whichever occurs first.

Shift Changes — White & Blue Divisions

Line changes will occur every 2 minutes at the sound of the buzzer. At each line change, the referee will allow players to clear the playing area before resuming play to provide a fair restart for both teams.

Scorekeeping

A coach or designated representative from each team will assist with scorekeeping. At the conclusion of each game, representatives from both teams will confirm the final score.

PLAYOFF TIEBREAKERS

If teams are tied in the standings when determining championship placement, the following tiebreakers will be applied in order:

1. Goal Differential

The team with the greater goal differential (goals for minus goals against) will advance. A maximum goal differential of six (6) goals per game will count toward this calculation.

2. Least Goals Against

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TIEBREAKERS

Championship games that end regulation in a tie will proceed as follows:

1. 2-minute sudden-death overtime

2. Three-player shootout if still tied

3. Sudden-death shootout if still tied

The second-seeded team will shoot first. All eligible players must shoot before any player may shoot a second time.

SPORTSMANSHIP & CONDUCT

The Dick & Gail Jones Memorial Hockey Tournament is committed to providing a fun, safe, and positive environment for players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.

Inappropriate behavior, conduct, or language will not be tolerated and may result in ejection and/or team forfeiture at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

Development and Coach/Player Interaction

A coach may be permitted on ice for each team to help kids if needed. The coach cannot interfere with the game play, or they will be asked to step off the ice. 

TOURNAMENT RULES & AUTHORITY

Final rules, divisions, and tournament format will be determined based on team and level registration.

No roster changes are permitted without prior approval from the Tournament Director. Double rostering will be considered on a case-by-case basis and requires prior Tournament Director approval.

Any situation not specifically addressed within these rules will be decided by the Tournament Director. All Tournament Director decisions are final.
