Learn to Play

In U.S. club hockey, age groups are organized into several tiers to accommodate players' development and skill levels.

The North Olmsted Hockey Club offers programs aligned to this structure:

  • Mitey Mites (ages 4-8)
  • Mites (ages 6-8)
  • Squirts (ages 9-10)
  • Peewees (ages 11-12)
  • Bantams (ages 13-14)

Each age group focuses on skill development, teamwork, and competition, with players often participating in the local Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) and tournaments.

Players Under 4

It's recommended that players of this age take learn to skate classes at the North Olmsted Recreation Center or at a nearby rink. Kids of this age are often not ready to jump into hockey.

Learn to Play Age 4-8

The North Olmsted Hockey Club Mitey Mite Program is the first step in club hockey for players aged 4-8.

The program is made-up of players who want to learn to play the great sport of hockey and focuses on skating and development of basic hockey skills, and of course having fun! The program is free for the first 4 weeks, ensuring that players enjoy the sport prior to financial commitment by families.

Ice skating experience preferred and available through the North Olmsted Recreation Center Learn to Skate programs.

Part-Time Girls Hockey

Part time girls teams - 14u, 12u, 10u. We continue to invite ALL girls in the NEO area to join us! Our goal is to work with the other home clubs to attempt to avoid any scheduling conflicts of practices and games times.

New to Hockey Age 7+

For players 7+ interested in learning the sport or playing for the first time, please email one of our hockey directors to discuss opportunities to play in the club!
